Youth Team manager Tony Philliskirk has praised his side's character after coming from behind to beat Bradford City under 18s on Saturday.
Speaking about the 2-1 win, Philliskirk said: "The most pleasing thing was the fact that for the first time this season we’ve gone behind and have come back to win, so the boys showed a lot of character.
"We actually played well in the first half and the goal we gave away was an unfortunate defensive mistake.
"We tried to play it out from the back and have played a sloppy square pass across our box and their lad has intercepted it.
"We just felt at half time that we were stood off them a bit and let them play too much and did’t get close enough, so half time came at a good time for us.
"We tactically changed one or two things and certainly out of possession we look more compact and then because of that we got a good foothold in the game.
"Within a five minute spell in the second half we turned the game around, good play from Chinedu Utche stuck one in from 20 yards, a really good finish.
"Then we made it 2-1 with good play down the left, Ned Dry delivered a great cross and Francois Antoine has got across his defender and I think it went in off his shoulder but it went in and it put us 2-1 up.
"I was really pleased with our reaction and we were certainly in the ascendancy and could have added to our lead.
"They were awarded a penalty, but Joe Boyling who’s really agile and a very good showstopper has made good save from the penalty.
"Towards the end of the game when we had to dig in we did, to show good defensive resilience when they put us under pressure.
"It was good to see the game out and get another good three points, the lads are looking in a good place at the moment."
Next up, the Youth Team travel away to take on Tranmere Rovers U18s on Saturday, September 16, 11:00am kick off.
